Herbalife Nutrition, as part of its Nutrition for Zero Hunger initiative, announced it will collaborate with Feed the Children to supply 48 000 sets of healthy snack and meal recipe cards in the Feed the Children’s food boxes that will be distributed to low-income families throughout the US.

These recipe cards have a similar appearance and format as those found in meal-kit services, and offer meal and snack recipes that are designed to incorporate the affordable ingredients often included in donation boxes. Each recipe has been created and evaluated by Herbalife Nutrition’s team of nutrition experts and registered dietitians.

Herbalife Nutrition and Feed the Children recently commissioned a global food insecurity survey and found that 73% of Americans have experienced food insecurity or a lack of available financial resources to feed their household since the pandemic began.

– In creating these recipes, we kept in mind the barriers that many people face when dealing with food insecurity – said Susan Bowerman, senior director worldwide education and training in Herbalife Nutrition. – Our team of experts are eager to continue working towards providing similar materials and resources to all of our Nutrition for Zero Hunger partners.

The included recipes are suitable for Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) participants and will also be available for download through the Feed the Children corporate partnership page and Herbalife Nutrition’s Nutrition for Zero Hunger page.

Recipe cards will be translated into both English and Spanish and will feature a QR code for recipients to provide feedback about the taste and ease of use for the suggested meals, and give Feed the Children the chance to track impacts on health and wellness.

– We are excited to bring the nutrition expertise of Herbalife Nutrition to our beneficiaries through convenient materials that will provide education about how to prepare healthy meals. It is our hope that these recipe cards will encourage healthy cooking and nutrition habits that will benefit families for years to come – said Bob Thomas, chief corporate and external relations officer in Feed the Children. – We expect to learn a great deal from our beneficiaries when they share how they use these resources and what else we might be able to provide.
